The paperclip link — a long flattened oval, alternating large and small — has become a contemporary signature for a practical reason: it lies flat. A round chain rolls and scatters light; a flat chain sits against the skin and reflects it in broad sheets, so the bracelet reads as a continuous ribbon of silver from across a room.

We built Lumen at 5 mm, which is the width at which a paperclip chain becomes a piece of jewellery rather than a fastening. Below that it looks like a finding. Above it, it stops being everyday.

Design & Craftsmanship

Each link is drawn from solid sterling silver wire rather than stamped from sheet, then cut, formed and soldered one at a time by hand — every seam filed flush before polishing begins. The result is a chain that drapes rather than sits, following the wrist instead of fighting it.

Once assembled, the whole bracelet is tumble-polished for fourteen hours. That is the step most fashion chains skip, and it is what produces the deep, liquid shine you can see in the metal rather than a flat grey brightness. The finish is kept rhodium-free so the tone stays cool and slightly grey rather than blue — a deliberate choice, because it sits better alongside the warm gold pieces in this collection.

The clasp is a lobster with an oversized ring, so it can be fastened one-handed, followed by a fine extender finished with a tiny flat tag. The extender is not decoration: it gives you a full inch of adjustment, which is the difference between a bracelet that fits and one you stop wearing.

How to Wear It

Lumen is the layering piece of the collection. Wear it beside a watch, on the opposite wrist, or stacked with the Selene cuff — the hammered texture against these flat polished links is our favourite pairing in the whole range.

It also takes a charm beautifully, and because the links are open enough to thread, you can add one without any tools. Worn alone with a plain white shirt and nothing else, it is enough. Worn with three other bracelets, it is the one that holds the stack together because it is the quietest thing in it.

Care

Store it flat and fastened to avoid kinks. Silver darkens with exposure to air and humidity — this is normal, not a fault — and a pass with the supplied cloth brings it back in seconds. Remove before swimming or using household cleaners.

If the links ever stiffen, a short soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, followed by thorough drying, restores the drape. Avoid silver dip on this piece; it can leave a film in the link joins that dulls the polish.
