The Story

A tennis bracelet is a test of evenness. Sixty stones, all of one size, all of one colour, set so precisely that the eye reads them as a single continuous line rather than as separate gems.

Miss by a fraction in the setting height and the bracelet breaks into segments as it moves — you see the joins, and the illusion is gone. Aurora is our answer to that, and the reason it takes five days rather than five hours to make.

Each of the sixty round lab-grown white sapphires is 3 mm: large enough to throw genuine fire, small enough to sit flat against the wrist and pass under a cuff. They are held in matching four-prong settings on a flexible articulated line, so the bracelet flows like fabric rather than behaving like a rigid bangle.

Design & Craftsmanship

Stones are matched by hand for diameter, colour and table cleanliness before setting begins; roughly one in five of the stones we receive is rejected at this stage. Each link is articulated on a hidden hinge, and each stone is set under a microscope with the four prongs raised from the same bead of metal, then trimmed and rounded together so the tops read as one continuous rhythm down the line.

The clasp is deliberately understated: a slim box clasp that closes flush into the line of stones, secured by two independent figure-eight safety catches. When it is fastened you should not be able to find it by eye — only by feel.

Beneath the gold the construction is recycled 925 sterling silver, plated at 2.5 microns of 18K yellow gold. It is the thickness of that layer that lets a vermeil tennis bracelet be worn daily rather than reserved.

How to Wear It

Aurora is the piece that moves from desk to dinner without any adjustment. Worn alone it is formal enough for a wedding; worn with the Lumen chain on the same wrist it becomes relaxed enough for a Sunday.

Care

Fasten the safety catches before you fasten the box clasp — it takes the strain off the mechanism. Remove before sleeping, sport and swimming.

Clean by brushing gently behind the settings with a soft dry brush, then wiping the stones with the supplied cloth. Never submerge a set piece in liquid cleaner: residue becomes trapped beneath the stones and clouds them, and there is no way to get it back out.
